BigCommerce
Accessibility fixes for BigCommerce stores, in your Stencil theme.
Your storefront's accessibility lives in its Stencil theme templates, styles and scripts, plus whatever apps and scripts have been added. We fix it there, on a copy, and verify the result the way a plaintiff's tester would.
Where BigCommerce stores usually fail
| Where it shows up | What fails | WCAG |

| Quick view and add-to-cart modals | Focus not moved into the dialog or not returned after it closes | 2.4.3 |
| Product option swatches | Options identified by colour or image only | 1.1.1, 4.1.2 |
| Home page carousels | Auto-rotating with no pause, controls without names | 2.2.2, 4.1.2 |
| Navigation menus | Submenus that only open on hover | 2.1.1 |
| Theme colours | Contrast below 4.5:1 on prices, badges and footer links | 1.4.3 |
| Scripts added through Script Manager | Chat, review and popup widgets that trap focus or have unlabeled controls | 2.1.2, 4.1.2 |
How we work on a BigCommerce store
- A store account limited to themes. No access to orders, customers or payment settings.
- A copy of your theme. We download it, fix the templates, styles and scripts, and upload the fixed version as a separate theme. Your live storefront doesn't change until you apply it.
- Verification of the purchase path with keyboard only, NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on Mac and iPhone.
- Before-and-after report, then three months of monitoring that re-scans when the theme or scripts change.
Apps, scripts and checkout
Where a failure comes from an app or a third-party script, we fix it if the theme or the app's settings allow it. If not, the report names the source, the failure, and what to ask its vendor for.
BigCommerce provides the standard checkout. We test it as part of the purchase path, fix what your theme and checkout settings control, and record anything that is BigCommerce's to fix. Custom checkouts are quoted from the scan.

Get a free scan of your store
A WCAG 2.2 AA scan of your key templates, each failure mapped to the part of your theme it lives in, with a fixed quote. Usually within one business day. Nobody calls you.
What we don't promise. We are engineers, not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice. No vendor can certify a store as "ADA compliant"; there is no certifying body. We remove the barriers, verify that a keyboard and screen-reader user can complete a purchase, and document the work so your attorney can use it.
Questions
Will my store look different?
Almost every fix is invisible to sighted shoppers. The exception is colour contrast, and you approve those changes before the theme is applied.
We use Cornerstone (or a theme based on it). Does that help?
It's a reasonable starting point, but most stores customize it and add scripts. We scan the store as it is today.
Can you work on a headless BigCommerce build?
Yes, quoted from the scan, because the work moves from the Stencil theme to your front-end code.
