WCAG remediation for online stores
We repair the accessibility failures in your store's theme itself, verify them with a screen reader, and hand your attorney a remediation report. Fixed price. Ten business days. No sales call.
What a scan looks like
A handcrafted soap brand on Shopify was named in a Southern District of New York complaint on September 29, 2026. We scanned its homepage on October 26. Nothing had been fixed. These are the failures a plaintiff's expert cites first, and the ones we repair in the theme.
| 1 | Pinch-to-zoom disabled on mobile meta-viewport · WCAG 1.4.4 | Critical |
| 10 | Text below minimum contrast ratio color-contrast · WCAG 1.4.3 | Serious |
| 1 | Logo link with no accessible name link-name · WCAG 2.4.4 | Serious |
| 1 | Product carousel unreachable by keyboard scrollable-region-focusable · WCAG 2.1.1 | Serious |
How it works
Homepage, collection, product, cart, checkout and account pages, plus the forms. Each failure mapped to the exact theme section and Liquid file.
Our engineers edit your theme through Theme Access on a duplicate, so your live store never breaks. Alt text, labels, contrast, focus order, keyboard traps, skip links.
A tester runs the full purchase path with NVDA and VoiceOver, keyboard only. Anything they can't complete goes back to the engineers.
Before-and-after report for your attorney, theme published, and monthly re-scans with alerts whenever your theme changes.
Why not an accessibility widget
A widget adds a script on top of the page. The underlying theme still has the unlabeled buttons and the missing alt text, and that is what the complaint quotes. Courts and plaintiffs' firms have caught on, and stores with a widget installed are now sued routinely.
Pricing
For comparison: the average ADA website suit costs a defendant $30,000 or more once settlement, legal fees and mandatory remediation are counted. Most settle between $5,000 and $25,000, and the remediation still has to be done.
Any store, any platform.
Up to 50 products on a stock or lightly customized theme.
Up to 500 products, customized theme, or third-party apps in the purchase path.
Monthly re-scans, alerts when your theme changes, and a quarterly summary your attorney can keep on file. Included for the first three months after remediation.
If you've already been served: a formal statement of remediation work, the verification log, and the before-and-after evidence, formatted for your counsel to attach to a settlement letter.
Larger catalogs and headless storefronts are quoted from the scan.
For defense counsel
Plaintiffs' firms settle fastest when the barriers are already gone and the injunctive claim is moot. We give you the documentation to show that.
We are engineers, not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice. No vendor can certify a website as "ADA compliant"; there is no certifying body and no safe harbor. What we can do is remove the barriers a complaint describes, verify that a blind user can complete a purchase, and document the work so your counsel can use it. Whether a claim settles, and for how much, is between you, your attorney and the plaintiff.
